Jimmy Evans

Video Storyteller

Jacksonville, Florida

Jimmy Evans is a passionate documentary filmmaker and journalist. Born and raised in Florida, many of Jimmy's films focus on portraying the environmental and social issues of his home state in thought provoking ways.

While studying in the University of Florida's documentary production program, Jimmy made multiple award winning short films, including Naturally Selected, a nine minute humorous and touching documentary about a dedicated environmentalist in Miami.

From its humble beginnings as a class project, Naturally Selected went on a nationwide festival tour, winning thousands of dollars in prize money, and was licensed by PBS for their South Florida Filmmaker series.

Since then, Jimmy has worked as a video news journalist, covering such high profile stories as the George Floyd protests and riots in Minneapolis, the anti COVID demonstrations and riots in Florida, and interviews with celebrity sportsmen such as Floyd Mayweather and Patrick Mahomes.

He's also continued making documentaries about environmental issues and video content for non-profits in Florida and has been working on a feature length adaptation of Naturally Selected.

Jimmy believes it is his focus on bringing out the interesting and emotional aspects of his subjects in a sensitive manner that sets him apart as a documentary filmmaker.
