Melissa Lahti is a multi-talented freelance filmmaker specialized in supporting the cutting edge independent fundraising, production, and filmmaking techniques.


She conceptualized and produced the Journeyman documentary Cat Island. She has also led a documentary series following college sports traditions at dozens of universities around the US.


Her projects include documentary commercial content for companies and nonprofits including Novartis, the YMCA, the MS Foundation, GE, and Ford. More recently she developed and was the showrunner for the PBS kids Nature Cat companion show, Nature Crafts.


She also works as an ongoing periodic instructor with the DCA in Nigeria and across West Africa promoting film safety and with NEW MOON Films an international nonprofit supporting impact advocacy projects.   


Melissa is available for Field Deployment, based in Los Angeles/Atlanta/Memphis/Washington DC/Seattle/Portland Can work as local across Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, Oregon, California, New York or near Austin, Houston, St Louis, Omaha, Salt Lake City, Green Bay, Fort Collins, Madison, Denver.  Her equipment list includes a Red Dragon-X 6k, Sony FS7, Sony FS7 MK II, 6k Blackmagic BMPCC, 4k Blackmagic BMPCC 


In addition to film financing support, Melissa can also provide design and distribution support. She has worked as a designer on many mainstream commercial and broadcast productions including work for PlayStation and Apple.


She has also supported the distribution of several projects and can help access the projects impact viability and develop a strategy based on your goals.
